TATTOO AFTERCARE
HYPAFIX BANDAGE
We apply the Hypafix Bandage after every tattoo. This bandage is water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. This means no baths, swimming, etc. We suggest that you leave the "second skin" on for at least 3-5 days.
There will be blood and plasma pooling inside, this is totally normal! If the plasma has started to leak through the bandage, or it starts to irritate the skin, remove the bandage completely and start the aftercare process.
KEEPING CLEAN
Once your bandage has been removed, wash your fresh tattoo thoroughly with warm water and unscented soap. Do not submerge in water. Be gentle!
Wash the tattoo 1-2 times a day. Gently pat the area dry with paper towel, then air-dry for a few minutes.
With clean hands, apply a thin layer of unscented ointment/lotion 2-3 times a day. Keep it moisturized, do not let it dry out.
Continue this process until your tattoo is fully healed. Healing should take 2-3 weeks.
Recommended unscented lotion/ointment:
Aquaphor, Tattoo Goo, Aveeno
Recommended unscented soap:
Dove, Dr. Bronners, Aveeno
NON-ADHERENT BANDAGE
For larger pieces we also use a Non-Adherent pad & gauze. We recommend keeping it on for a minimum of 2-3 hours. DO NOT REBANDAGE!
Once removed, you may start the aftercare process.
THINGS TO AVOID
Your tattoo will begin to flake & peel, this is totally normal. DO NOT pick or scratch the scabs, let them fall off on their own.
Try to avoid:
Direct sunlight
Long exposure to water
Rough or tight clothing
